When will prices increase for registration?

Prices for registration will increase on June 15, 2012.

I am already registered; can I still join a team?

I am already registered for the 5K; can I upgrade to the Half Marathon?

Yes. Please contact the Run Director at info@armyrun.ca with your request and you will be provided with information on how to proceed. Please note, however, that you will not be reimbursed for the difference in price.

Are there any plans to add a 10K and/or Full Marathon to the Canada Army Run?

This year’s event will remain the same as it has in the past, offering two challenging race options: a Half Marathon and a 5K. Although there are currently no plans to add a 10K or Full Marathon to the line-up, this is something that may be considered in the future.

How can I best stay up to date on information about the Canada Army Run?

Check out our pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr for more ways to receive updates and to interact with us!

When can I pick up my race kit?

Race Kit Pick Up will be held on Friday, September 21, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 22, from 09:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Does a participant need photo identification to pick up their registration package?

All registered participants’ names and bib #’s will be posted on a master list at Race Kit Pickup. Each person will be required to find this information and present it to a volunteer at one of the registration kiosks. We recommend that you have photo identification with you in case clarification is needed.

Am I able to pick up a race kit for someone else?

Yes. Just follow the same procedure as you did when retrieving yours.

Where can I get my bib number before Canada Army Run weekend?

Your bib number will be e-mailed to you by Sportstats.ca prior to race weekend. Be sure to check your Junk/Spam folder if you can’t find the e-mail.

What services are provided for participants at Marion Dewar Plaza/Confederation Park?

There will be more than 40 portable toilets located on Marion Dewar Plaza (City Hall) parallel to Laurier Avenue. An Information tent and Sweat Check tent are also onsite.

Participants may check their personal belongings at the Sweat Check tent inside Confederation Park.

What if my technical shirt doesn’t fit me?

Every effort is made to order enough shirts in all sizes but once numbers in specific sizes run out, a participant must select a shirt in another size range.

Is there a Lost and Found Area at the race site?

All lost and found items will be sent to the Information Tent located on Marion Dewar Plaza.

Am I able to push my child in a baby jogger or stroller device for the 5K or half marathon route?

Baby joggers and strollers can pose a danger to other participants. Due to injuries observed at other events, as a result of baby joggers and strollers, we have decided not to allow them in the half marathon. Strollers will be permitted in the 5K, but only if you are walking, not running, and you must start at the back behind the last row of participants.

Am I able to bring my pet on the 5K or Half Marathon route?

Due to restrictions imposed by our insurance company, coupled with consideration for the safety of other runners, pets are not allowed on the course. The only exception is for those registered as guide dogs for the visually impaired.

Are walkers welcome in the 5K and half marathon?

Walkers are most welcome and are given a start position behind the last row of runners.

Will there be official Canada Army Run pacers to help us get through either race?

There will be pacers in both events, identified by a sign that each one will carry that signifies their anticipated finish time.

How many water stations will be set up on the course and where will they be located?

There will be 6 water stations for the half marathon, the first located at 3K and situated approximately every 3K thereafter.

There will be only one water station in the 5K, located just before the 3K mark.

There will also be 2 chemical toilets placed at each location.

What is a start line corral?

Corrals are placed behind the start line as a way to organize participants of similar pace and to assist in moving everyone into the race gradually. Each participant declares this when registering for the event and their bib # will include this information. For example, a participant with a predicted finish time of 2 hours 10 minutes would not line up in the sub 1hr 45 minute corral.

Is there a time limit to complete the Half Marathon?

There is no official time limit identified, but we will start dismantling the finish line at approximately 1:00 pm. Therefore, in order for your time to be recorded, you must be able to complete the 21.1 km in less than 4 hours (11.5 min/km).

Where is the chip that records my time? Do I need to return it at the end of the race?

The race chip that records your time is built into your bib. You do not have to return the chip when you’re finished the race.

Where can I see my official race results?

Official race results are available at http://www.sportstats.ca.

Why is gun time listed ahead of chip time in the official results listing?

While chip time shows when a participant crosses the start line, “gun time” is the time when the gun fires to the time you cross the finish line. Because gun time is always used for timing winners, it is the time listed first in the results.

Where can family and friends meet me after completion of my run?

Family and friends are asked to meet you in Marion Dewar Plaza after you have exited the Recovery Area inside Confederation Park.

Where is the Recovery Tent located, and what is served to participants in this area?

The Recovery Area is located at the end of the finish chute and positioned inside Confederation Park.

Light refreshments will be available to give you a pick up after the race.

Where are the best spectator viewing areas for the Army Run?

There is plenty of room for spectators along both the half marathon and 5K courses. You will find detailed maps for each of the routes here.

Who is the official race photographer for the Canada Army Run?

ZoomPhoto.ca is the official race photographer for the 2012 Canada Army Run.

I pre-paid for an iTab when I registered for this year’s race; when will I receive it?

After Canada Army Run weekend, you will receive an e-mail from iTab with a promotional code. You can then visit their website to fill in your details and finishing time, and provide this code upon checkout to avoid being charged twice.
